This will be a fantastic journey, we'll avoid the crowds and long lines — and it won’t cost you a dime.
No, we're not heading out to the world's most famous art museums on my private jet; in fact you won't even need to leave the comfort of home, thanks to an extraordinary endeavor by Google entitled, “Art Project.”
The folks at Google have partnered with many art museums across the globe, receiving permission to capture images of works in their collections using high-resolution digital cameras. As a result, you can see major works of art, ranging from Impressionism, Romanticism, Abstract, Renaissance, Expressionism, Modern and more, with the click of your computer mouse.
The Google Art Project enables you to virtually move through the museum’s galleries, selecting works of art that interest you. You’ll navigate through interactive floor plans, zoom into paintings, and even listen to brief histories of artists, in lay terms, given by the curators of that section of the museum.
In future newsletters, we’ll explore works and artists and we’ll include links to the very images being discussed.
Welcome to the future of art exploration — you can begin your journey here!•
